THE JUSTICE

Beyond the rule of reason.

The first journey is complete. The material world has revealed its lessons, but another path now opens — one that cannot be followed through reason alone.

Justice stands at this new threshold, where the sword separates thought from feeling and the courage to trust the heart becomes the beginning of transformation

THE SECOND THRESHOLD

The first seven archetypes belong to the material world — the realm of action, will and external experience.

With Justice, the eighth Arcana, the journey turns inward, entering the world of emotions, intuition and the unconscious.

The sword marks this transition. Its purpose is not to punish or judge, but to cut through the dominance of reason, allowing the heart to become the guide.

Before Justice stands a mysterious creature, both gateway and mirror. To pass through it is to confront the inner world and accept a different way of knowing.

The challenge is no longer simply to understand the world, but to discover what lies within ourselves.

DETAILS & SYMBOLS

Each element reveals a layer of meaning.

THE SWORD — THE NECESSARY SEPARATION

The sword is not an instrument of punishment, but of liberation. It represents the force required to cut through the dominance of reason and enter the unfamiliar territory of emotions and intuition. Having travelled through the material world, the Hero must now abandon the certainty of purely rational understanding and allow the heart to guide the next stage of the journey. The sword therefore marks a decisive transformation: not the destruction of intellect, but the courage to loosen its control and discover another way of knowing.

THE CREATURE — THE GATE TO THE INNER WORLD

The mysterious creature is both guardian and gateway, standing at the boundary between the material and emotional worlds. Crossing this threshold means leaving behind the familiar rules of external reality and entering the uncertain landscape of feelings, dreams and hidden desires. The creature does not prevent passage. It demands the courage to undergo transformation.

THE MIRROR — THE REFLECTION WITHIN

The gateway is also a mirror. What appears before us is not simply another creature, but a reflection of our own hidden nature. In Jungian terms, the mirror suggests the confrontation with unconscious aspects of the personality — feelings, fears and contradictions that rational awareness may have overlooked.

To enter the emotional world, the Hero must first be willing to recognize what the mirror reveals.

FIRE & WATER — TWO WAYS OF KNOWING

The alchemical symbols of Fire and Water express the tension between intellect and emotion. Fire represents the active force of reason, while Water symbolizes feeling, intuition and the depths of the unconscious. The sword allows the Hero to move beyond the dominance of the rational mind and approach the world of Water. This is not the rejection of intellect, but a necessary change in direction: reason must learn to make room for feeling.

THE WINGS — THE POSSIBILITY OF LIBERATION

The wings remain trapped within the soil, suggesting the desire for transformation held back by the weight of old certainties. They represent a freedom that cannot be attained through intellectual control alone. Their liberation begins when the Hero accepts vulnerability and allows the emotional world to become part of conscious experience.

BEYOND REASON

Justice, the eighth Arcana, marks the transition from the material world to the emotional world. The first seven archetypes concern the development of the individual through action, will and external experience. With Justice, the Hero encounters a different challenge: the discovery of the inner life. The sword symbolizes the necessary separation from the dominance of reason. What has guided the journey until now must temporarily yield to intuition, emotion and the hidden knowledge of the heart. In alchemical terms, this passage can be understood through the relationship between Fire and Water — a movement from active control toward receptivity and inner transformation.

In Jungian psychology, the journey evokes individuation, in which unconscious feelings and neglected aspects of the personality gradually enter conscious awareness.

Justice is therefore not simply the weighing of right and wrong. It is the courage to confront oneself, to recognize the limits of rational knowledge and to trust the emotional depths that lead toward a more complete understanding of the Self.

THE HIDDEN LABYRINTH

The journey continues beneath the sculpture.

Beneath every statue lies a labyrinth — the hidden symbol of our inner journey, the secret path belonging only to each soul who dares to walk it.

No two lives follow the same route. The path turns, returns, divides and surprises us. What appears to be a detour may become part of the transformation.

The path is never straight.
